Situated in Wandsworth Town, award-winning Chit Chaat Chai serves up tasty Indian street eats which we’ve blogged about before, so when we heard they were bringing back their successful and raved about afternoon tea, we had to check it out.
What you can expect
The first decision you need to make is do you make it boozy or not?
- Bottomless Masala Chai – that sweet, aromatic Indian tea
OR - Bottomless Sun over Goa Cocktails – if you really want to treat yourself
Once that decision has been made then the rest is easy. Chit Chaat Chai bring you a taste of India through a selection of delicious treats:
Samosa Chaat
Veg Samosas topped with chickpea curry, yoghurt, chaatneys & sev
Bombay Bhel
Puffed rice, potatoes, onions, chickpeas married with their house chaatneys
Chicken Kati Roll
Tandoor fired and wrapped in a hot flat bread paratha
Darth Vada Pav Burgers
Spiced potato patty ball dipped in chickpea flour served in a pav (bun)
Rum Baba Doughnuts
Indian-style warm doughnuts, served without the rum
Chai-Spiced Brownies
Gooey, fudgey, chocolatey goodness. Served with vanilla pod ice cream
If you’re not salivating yet check out some of the pictures from our afternoon on our Instagram.
Our favourite dish
We absolutely couldn’t get enough of the Bombay Bhel. Every bite was bursting with flavour. It certainly had us smiling.
Not to mention the rum baba doughnut or gulab as it’s known which tasted so heavenly.
In summary…
All in all, we give it a BIG thumbs up as it’s great value for money and the food was delicious. We were stuffed by the end and even had to take a doggy bag home. Plus we love the vibe in Chit Chaat Chai – it’s laid back with new artwork by up and coming artists on the walls.
You can find out more information about the afternoon tea here. They plan to run them one Sunday a month so be sure to follow them on Instagram to find out the next dates @chitchaatchai so you don’t miss out.
It looks fantastic. I must try to find something up here in Manchester.
