Pasta Di Rocca- Italian food done the right way!

Pasta di Rocca is the newest Italian restaurant in Boxpark. With Pasta in the title you’d think that is all you can order but they also have burgers, salads and some great dessert options.

We had the privilege of sitting down with Moris, Operation Director to talk a bit more about Pasta Di Rocca.

What’s the Pasta Di Rocca concept all about?

It’s an Italian restaurant where everything is freshly made – from the sauces to the pastas. We make the sauces at our Mother restaurant Rocca Di Papa in Dulwich. We also have another restaurant in South Kensington. We have been running these restaurants since 2013 and 2008 respectively.

Fresh ingredients are always the way to go!

Definitely. We try to keep it simple but tasty. We have our normal pasta which is made with semolina, water and salt which is great for Vegans. We do have egg pasta which is made exactly the same but only with an egg added. We use the egg pasta for Lasagna.

Why do you think Vegan pasta works well in Croydon?

We are right next door to a solely vegan restaurant.

Loads of customers kept asking us for Vegan so we decided to make some meat-free dishes suitable for Vegans and Vegetarians. Vegan is becoming very important now in the restaurant business. We also have gluten free pasta but this isn’t something that is home made by us, yet!

What are your most popular dishes?

Our Vegan options are popular, the Vegetarian options are  also very popular along with chicken dishes. The classic Bolognese also goes down a great treat.

My favourite dish is the Pesto Alla Genovese. It has our home-made basil pesto, parmesan and pecorino not forgetting the pine nuts.

Do you do dessert here?

Yes we do. We do a chocolate mousse cake served with ice cream and a Caramel cheesecake which is delicious. For those who are vegans or are allergic to dairy, we have dairy free sorbets. I’d say that we have a good selection of desserts on the menu to suit everyone.

How did you get started?

I worked my way up. I started as a kitchen porter many years ago. I then became a chef, then a manager and then an owner. I worked for others and have worked for myself. I have mostly worked with Italian cuisine.

What attracted you to Boxpark?

Originally I had a restaurant in the Boxpark Shoreditch location. I was told about the Croydon location and thought it was a great opportunity to get involved in the Croydon economy that is thriving.

What are you favourite places to eat in Boxpark apart from Pasta Di Rocca of course?

I love the monkey fingers in Meat Liquor.

I’m Greek so I love Greek on the Street especially the Souvlaki. Chillbox is nice for dessert and I love the natural frozen yogurts which when you are Greek you have a lot of natural yogurt!

Pasta Di Rocca is open 7 days a week at Boxpark Croydon.  Escape the busyness of Boxpark and you’ll be greeted by friendly staff eager to please. You’ll receive great service with a reasonable price.

You can follow them online on FacebookTwitter and Instagram. If you do visit them, then get back in touch. We’d love to know what you think.
